Mary Schell has called Post Falls home for over 87 years. In the late twenties and early thirties, Mary spent her first and second grade years in the old 1890 school building. Some of Mary's high school teachers are also featured in the History Walk, such as Dr. George Oliver Kildow and Mary Eisenhauer.
Mary owned the land where the Red Lion Templins Hotel now sits. She still lives in the home that her husband Mel built, just across the street from Templins. Spunky fisherwoman and adventurer, Mary's shines as a bright example of the spirit of Post Falls.
Though Mary and her late husband Mel never had children of their own, Mary's 'child' became recording and preserving the history of Post Falls, Idaho, particularly the history of the schools. An entire room dedicated to Post Falls school history was made possible through Mary Schell's work.
